GMIT Celebrates Its 9th Graduation Ceremony, Honoring 71 New Engineers and Professionals

The 9th Graduation Ceremony of the 2025–2026 Academic Year of the German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology (GMIT) was successfully held on 19 June 2026 with great celebration and pride.

The ceremony was officially opened by Prof. B. Battsengel, Rector of GMIT, who congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to apply their knowledge, skills, and professional expertise for the development and prosperity of Mongolia.

The memorable occasion was attended by representatives of government institutions, international organizations, partner companies, GMIT faculty and staff members, as well as the families and friends of the graduates, who gathered to celebrate this important milestone together.

71 Graduates Completed Their Engineering Education at GMIT

This year, a total of 71 students successfully graduated from GMIT, including:

* 69 Bachelor’s degree graduates from the programs of:

* Raw Materials and Process Engineering;

* Mechanical Engineering;

* Environmental Engineering;

* Industrial Engineering;

* Mechatronic Engineering;

* Energy and Electrical Engineering;

* 2 Master’s degree graduates from the **Master’s Program in Resources and Technology**.

One of the remarkable highlights of this year’s graduation is that **33 female engineers** graduated from engineering disciplines that have traditionally been male-dominated, demonstrating the increasing participation and contribution of women in engineering and technology fields.

Outstanding Achievements of GMIT Students

Throughout their studies, GMIT students actively participated in national and international olympiads, scientific conferences, and academic competitions, achieving remarkable results.

Among the achievements:

* T. Ulsbold won **1st place** at the “Mongolian Engineer” National Olympiad in 2024 and 2026;

* B. Maral achieved **3rd place** at the 2026 “Mongolian Engineer” National Olympiad;

* U. Aisulu won **2nd place** at the **SDG-2025 International Olympiad** organized by the German-Kazakh University;

* E. Ariuntsetseg, U. Aisulu, M. Oyunjargal, and O. Uyanga won **1st place as a team** at the Ecology Hackathon organized by the Department of Ecology of the National University of Mongolia;

* G. Nomin-Erdene achieved **3rd place** at the National Ecology Olympiad;

* Munkh-Orgil received a bronze medal, and Oyunjargal received a silver medal at the **2023 National Chemistry Olympiad**.

GMIT graduates have also demonstrated outstanding academic excellence through international scholarship achievements.

* E. Ariuntsetseg from the Environmental Engineering program received the **DAAD Sur-place Scholarship for four consecutive years**;

* O. Sainzaya from the Raw Materials and Process Engineering program received the **DAAD Sur-place Scholarship for three consecutive years** and the **DAAD TNB Scholarship for one year**.

Developing the Next Generation of Engineering Professionals

Established in 2013 through an intergovernmental agreement between Mongolia and the Federal Republic of Germany, GMIT is a state-owned university dedicated to educating internationally qualified engineers and professionals for the mining, processing, and technology sectors.

During the ceremony, distinguished guests extended their congratulations and best wishes to the graduates. The greetings were delivered by Mr. D. Nayanbayar, Governor of Nalaikh District; a congratulatory message from H.E. Helmut Kulitz, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Mongolia, was conveyed on his behalf; and Mr. Sebastian Burghof, GIZ/GMIT Project Manager, also addressed the graduates.

Furthermore, B. Myagmarjargal, Head of the Park Council of “Erdenes Industrial Technology Park” LLC, delivered a commencement speech and wished the graduates success in their future professional careers.

Equipped with internationally recognized engineering education, practical knowledge, and professional skills, GMIT graduates are ready to contribute to the future development of Mongolia’s mining, industrial, energy, environmental, and technology sectors as the next generation of engineers and specialists.
