Scholarships

The German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology (GMIT) provides several scholarships that support the next generation of Mongolian engineers. Our university is committed to being financially accessible to students of all backgrounds. GMIT is constantly developing its contacts to companies and other supporters in order to secure a broad base of scholarships for students.
 

Currently, the following types of scholarships and financial supports are being offered for the students:
  • GMIT scholarship
  • DAAD scholarship
  • Government education loan
  • Government financial aid 
 
GMIT scholarship:
This scholarship includes full and half tuition waivers. All enrolled students from the Basic Engineering Program (BEP) and Bachelor programs can apply for the GMIT scholarship. Newly enrolling students can apply from their 2nd semester. This scholarship will be offered each semester. 
 
The GMIT scholarship includes the 4 categories below:
1) Excellent Student Scholarships (full and half tuition waivers);
2) Excellent academic achievement + extracurricular activities Scholarships (full and half tuition waivers). The top 20% of all GMIT students will be notified by the Academic and Student Affairs Department to apply for this scholarship;
3) Leadership Scholarships (full tuition waivers for 2 students). Minimum GPA of 2.0; Extracurricular and volunteer activities; Leadership qualities and character, e.g. showing integrity, honesty, positive attitude, school spirit and cooperation (i.e. team player);
4) Scholarships for Dependents of Staff at GMIT (half tuition waivers). Minimum GPA of 1.7; certain criteria must be met, e.g. low family income, several siblings, disabilities in the family, or orphan status; supporting documentation is required and an interview is mandatory.
 
Application deadline:
  • The Scholarship Committee will inform students of the application deadline prior to the start of the semester.
Required documents:
  • CV/resume;
  • Scholarship form.
     
DAAD scholarship:
The DAAD scholarship includes a tuition fee payment of EUR 2,500 for the whole academic year and a monthly allowance of EUR 200 to cover living expenses. This scholarship is available to all Bachelor students and new Bachelor students enrolling at GMIT for the first time.
 
Criteria:
  • Excellent academic achievement (Minimum GPA of 2.0 for GMIT students; and Entrance Examination score for new students);
  • Extracurricular activities.
Application deadline:
  • Application will be open in the middle of April, each year. 
Required documents:
  • CV/resume;
  • Scholarship form.

Government education loan:
The Government education loan is available to all Bachelor students, including the newly enrolled students. This loan covers the full tuition fee. GMIT students are entitled to apply for the Government education loan each semester. The loan has no interest rate, and students are asked to pay back the loan within 5 years after graduation. 
 
Criteria:
  • Minimum GPA of 2.8;
  • Entrance examination (ЭЕШ) score of 600 for new students;
  • Studied minimum of 10 credit points during the previous semester.
Application deadline:
  • Academic and Student Affairs will announce the opening of application prior to each semester. 
Required documents:
  • Application form;
  • Motivation letter;
  • Copy of national identity card;
  • Entrance examination certificate;
  • Enrollment certificate from the university;
  • Tuition fee invoice.
     

Government financial aid:
Students, who are taking minimum of 12 credit points per semester and who meet one of the following requirements, can apply for the Government financial aid. 
 
Requirements:
  • Orphan;
  • Disabled students or student’s both parents with disability;
  • Students from a family, where one family member lost full potential/ability to work;
  • Students from a family, where 3 children are studying at higher education institutions to earn a Bachelor degree.
Application deadline:
  • Academic and Student Affairs will announce the opening of application prior to each semester. 
Required documents:
  • Application form;
  • Birth certificate;
  • Entrance examination certificate (for newly enrolling students);
  • Copy of completed secondary education certificate;
  • Copy of national identity cards of parents or guardian and student;
  • Enrollment certificate from the university;
  • A proof document, which states the student is qualified to apply for the aid.

Tuition fees per academic year (12 months):
  • Basic Engineering Program (BEP): MNT 3,500,000 - including dormitory fees of MNT 520,000;
  • Bachelor’s Study program (B.Sc.): MNT 6,480,000 - plus dormitory fees of MNT 520,000;
  • Master’s Study program (MBA/M.Sc.): MNT 7,980,000.
Tuition fees must be paid in the 1st week of each semester, e.g. Bachelor's Study program (MNT 3,240,000) plus dormitory fees (MNT 260,000).
