GMIT and KAIST will implement a mutual student exchange program

German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology (GMIT) has signed a cooperation agreement within the field of science and technology world-leading the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). Thus, it can implement projects and programs for teacher and student exchange and joint research, that are designated in the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the two Institutions established in 2019.

D.Terbishdagva, Chair of the GMIT Board of Governors, B.Battsengel, Rector of GMIT, B.Enkhbayar, Vice-Rector for Finance and Administration of GMIT, Thomas Hollenberg, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of GMIT and Lee Sung Chil, Professor of Mechanical Engineering of GMIT participated in the meeting to expand cooperation. Also, Prof. Kwang Hyung Lee, President of KAIST, Prof. Bowon Kim, Vice-President for Planning and Budget, Prof. Man Sung Yim, Associate Vice President of the International Office, and Eunjae Lee, Head of the International Relations Team of KAIST took a part in the meeting.

The Institute was founded in 1971 and supported by former president Park Chung-Hee to develop science and engineering higher education in South Korea to meet world standards. KAIST QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) ranks 41st in the world as of 2022, 12th in Asia in overall scores, and 16th in materials science and engineering, and technology. “The KAIST 2031” strategic plan intends further the development of interdisciplinary research, turning research into training and financial resources and introducing entrepreneurship and start-up business curricula and teaching methods.

The implementation of the plan was carried out by the President of KAIST, Prof recognized as a future researcher in Korea, Kwang Hyung Lee is in charge.
During the visit, representatives of GMIT met and exchanged views with KAIST Startup, an advanced technology laboratory of microbiology for pollution treatment and management of the KAIST Language Center.
