The Master of Business Administration (MBA) in “International Management of Resources and Environment” (IMRE) provides all necessary skills for B.Sc. graduates, who are interested in Business management, Environmental sustainability, and Mining. This Master's Study program is bridging the gap of these three key areas by applying a holistic appoarch - that's why we call this postgraduate course the "Green MBA". Our MBA Study program addresses Mongolian professionals, who strive for an international, future-oriented business degree while working at a company or while taking care of their family. Classes with on-site attendance are held every Thursday and Friday evening, as well as on Saturdays at GMIT UB Office in Ulaanbaatar (Baga Toiruu 62, Commod building, 3rd floor, 8th khoroo, Sukhbataar district). The Study program consists of 120 credit points (ECTS) according to European and German standards - in each semester, 30 ECTS points are usually acquired. The language of instruction is English.

This multidisciplinary MBA course is matching industry demands in Mongolia and worldwide. Because the language of instruction is English, students are fully qualified to work in international contexts later on. Furthermore, this Master's program has a strong-practice orientation. Besides lectures, students are trained in the lab as well as in the field. Excursions and meetings with business, environmental, and mining experts connect students to potential employers and provide insights into future career options.

Following requirements are needed to join the Master's program in International Management of Resources and Environment at GMIT:
  • A Bachelor degree (B.Sc.) in engineering or in science is required to join the IMRE Study program
  • Proof of English language proficiency (TOEFL 80, IELTS 6.5) is mandatory
  • All GMIT graduates with Bachelor degree are entitled to apply for this international MBA program as well - in this case, additional proof of English language proficiency is not requested.
  • Working experience will be an advantage
Tuition fees:

An international first-class MBA does not come for free. However, our tuition fees are competitive:
MNT 133,000 per credit point (ECTS); MNT 7,980,000 per year. 

If you take five modules in one semester, GMIT will grant you a 25% discount on your tuition fees. Additional scholarships are available. Furthermore, GMIT offers benefits for companies, whose employees are enrolled in the program.


Admission is open until July 31. The MBA program will start the following October.

Our MBA has a 50/50 split of business and science subjects with a strong focus on the environment. It is characterized by a multidisciplinary approach encompassing ecology, geoscience, mining engineering, law, economics, finance, entrepreneurship, and management. The fourth semester is for the preparation of the Master's thesis. The design of the curriculum intends to offer a sound mixture of modules dealing with general economics and business administration, and with more specialized topics of environmental and resource management.

Throughout this degree program, you can expect to be taught using a wide range of approaches such as laboratory work, discussions of real-life scenarios, self-driven projects, interactions with leading industry corporations, and lectures by Mongolian and German professors and academic staff. Additionally, you will impart further competencies such as sophisticated research abilities.
