On 2 June 2026, Dr. Joachim Bertele, Ambassador and Director for East Asia, South-East Asia and the Pacific at the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany, visited the German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology (GMIT) to learn more about the university's academic activities, learning environment, and campus facilities.
The delegation included Ms. Celine Read, Desk Officer for Mongolia/Japanese-German Berlin; Ms. Siyana Dimitrova, Desk Officer for the Promotion of German as a Foreign Language and German Schools Abroad; Ms. Hana Becker, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Mongolia; and Mr. Udo Weber, Head of Cooperation at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ulaanbaatar.
The delegation was welcomed by the GMIT management team, who presented the university's strategic development, German-Mongolian cooperation in higher education, and its academic and research activities in engineering and technology.
Following the meeting, the guests toured the GMIT campus, visiting classrooms, laboratories, research facilities, and student learning spaces to gain a closer understanding of the university's educational environment.
The visit highlighted the strong partnership between Mongolia and Germany in higher education and reaffirmed the shared commitment to advancing cooperation in engineering education, research, and innovation.
