GMIT Students Share Their Stories and International Experiences at the COP17 Green Zone
On 21 August 2026, the German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology (GMIT) participated in the COP17 Green Zone as part of the GIZ project, providing a platform for students to share their international experiences and perspectives on sustainable development with participants.
During the event, GMIT introduced its Environmental Engineering program, as well as the university’s academic programs, international student exchange opportunities, and student life.
Environmental Engineering students also delivered presentations based on their academic journeys and international experiences, engaging with participants through discussions and interactive sessions.
I. Tselmeg, a 3rd-year Environmental Engineering student, shared her experience of COP17 and the Green Zone, highlighting student participation and the role of young people in addressing environmental challenges.
B. Tsetseikhen, a 3rd-year Environmental Engineering student, shared her experience studying at Jeonbuk National University, South Korea, as an exchange student. She spoke about the knowledge and experiences she gained abroad, adapting to a new environment, and the advantages of studying in an international academic setting.
I. Sorgudari, a 4th-year Environmental Engineering student, shared her experience preparing to study at TUBAF, Germany, as well as her previous internship experience with GIZ. She highlighted how studying and working in international organizations and academic environments can contribute to becoming a future green professional.
B. Solongo, a 3rd-year Environmental Engineering student, shared her personal journey toward choosing Environmental Engineering as her field of study. Her story sparked interest among participants and led to an engaging, interactive discussion through a question-and-answer session.
Through their presentations, the students highlighted international experiences, sustainable practices, green initiatives, environmental responsibility, and the skills needed by future green professionals.
At GMIT, engineering education goes beyond theoretical knowledge. The university aims to provide students with opportunities to study in international environments, exchange experiences, and address real-world challenges through research-based approaches, while developing environmentally responsible and forward-thinking engineers.
The participation of GMIT students in the COP17 Green Zone was therefore an important opportunity to bring the voices, experiences, and perspectives of future green professionals to a wider audience.
